I just moved to Portland after a chunky period of restless wandering. I'm here to eat art and creativity with my big hungry heart, with a particular nutritional deficiency in stage lights and line memorization.
So I have some questions, because as I've been trying to figure out where to get involved, I've been afraid to knock on most doors because I'm not sure what's going on behind them...
So, who's out there, having auditions, are they all pre-season (like in August) and does everyone have a glossy headshot and resume, and where does one go to meet up with You People?

  • Auditions are all year long. Yes, most have headshots and resumes.
Lots going on in town. Most of what I hear is through friends, then get hooked up with auditions. Some have agents, which is a good way to hear about things. The Tragedies is another TRIBE that posts auditions for their sketch comedy troupe.
You should email Miranda directly for some other info. She's more in the scoop than me.

Best wishes!! You will LOVE it here.
  • Hey, I'm new in town also and I've had pretty good luck with patagreenroom.org They have a forum with auditions and gigs and all sorts of things, which surprisingly enough people actually manage to post quite a bit on, which is the problem with most forums. They are also the people who do the semi-anual general auditions for the big theatres in the area...their year membership is $30 which is less than most places, but you can join the forums for free. Also, if you want to meet up with Us People, I don't know about the rest of us but I'd be up for some coffee or something when I get back into town (I'm in Alaska doing a show right now until November 20th)....so..uhm..hope that helps!
